“Employment with Support” is a programme implemented by the Christos Stelios Ioannou Foundation whose purpose is the social integration and vocational rehabilitation of adults with moderate and slight mental disability.
In October 2014, Marathon Distributors and the Christos Stelios Ioannou Foundation commenced a cooperation involving the employment of two of the Foundation’s students. The students are working in Marathon’s distribution centre and receive personal support and systematic supervision by the Foundation’s Labour Supervisors. The employment of these students gives them the chance to demonstrate their ability to participate in society as active citizens and at the same time will help alter any stigmas, prejudice and discrimination surrounding the mentally disabled. It will strengthen workplace morale and productivity through a more compassionate and diverse workforce.
